Circles
MEADE SHOTWELL CIRCLE
Meade Shotwell Circle meets at 7:00 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in members' homes or at the church. Our membership is a unique cross-section of Southern Hills' women, ranging from past UMW presidents and church secretaries to the newest church and staff members. It is a fellowship that grows through love and friendship. You will find us busy at work in all areas of the church. The Circle is named in honor of Dr. Donald R. Herren's beloved grandmother, Meade Shotwell.
PATRICIA HERREN CIRCLE
The Patricia Herren Circle meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room or at members' homes. We are a group of caring ladies who enjoy working together on many church and UMW projects such as putting in place and decorating the Chrismon Trees in the sanctuary for the Advent Season. At our December meeting we bring cookies and deliver them to shut-ins. Some of our other activities include support to Adopt-a-Family, the Hope Center, Nathaniel Mission and the Methodist Home. We help in the serving of meals after funerals. After one of our meetings each quarter, we go to lunch together to celebrate birthdays. We invite you to join us for interesting programs, friendly interaction and spiritual growth. The circle is named in honor of Pat Herren, wife of Dr. Don Herren.
FAITH-SUSANNAH WESLEY CIRCLE
The Faith-Susannah Wesley Circle meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. in the members' homes or at the church for fellowship, fun and interesting programs which include Mission and Bible Study. We devote our time and resources to many worthwhile community and church-related activities such as cooking meals for the Wesley Foundation and adopting a patient at Eastern State Hospital. We also contribute items to the Methodist Home and provide a recreational time for them once a year. We gather items needed for Hope Center, Nathaniel Mission and many others. We have secret prayer partners that are revealed at our Christmas luncheon. We have women of all ages. Come join us for fellowship, sharing, learning and caring. The Circle's name is a combination of names from two Circles that merged: Faith - for "faith in the Lord" and Susannah Wesley, John Wesley's mother.
SARAH BAGBY MID-DAY CIRCLE
The Sarah Bagby Mid-Day Circle meets at 12 noon the second Wednesday of each month in the Fireside Room. We have interesting programs, Christian fellowship and enjoy a dessert provided by various members. We promote Christian love through our activities in the Circle. We try to make a difference for Christ by donating the proceeds of our Spring Flower Sale to the local Church's areas of need, as well as outreach projects that include: Methodist Children's Home, UMCOR, Adopt-a-Family, Nathaniel Mission, Habitat for Humanity, Hope Center, God's Pantry, Wesley Foundation, PEO Luncheon, Blanket Fund and Nathan's Rock and Roll. We welcome guests and new members who are interested in helping make a difference in the ministry with women and children. Our Circle is named in honor of our own Sarah Frances Bagby.
NEW LIFE CIRCLE
The New Life Circle meets the second Thursday evening of the month at 5:30 p.m. in the Fireside Room. We have an informal structure and our main focus each month is to visit our "Hug Buddies", church members who are in nursing homes, are shut-in at home, and those who are hospitalized. We also provide, throughout the year, Celebration Receptions following the transition ceremonies at the Hope Center Recovery Program for Women. We participate in all UMW projects and contribute yearly to the Lexington Women's Clothe a Child Program. We invite you to join us in our visitation and reach out to those who are in need. This Circle grew out of a renewal and rededication to Circle friendships and activities--therefore, the name "New Life Circle".
