Our Circle is named in honor or Sarah Frances Bagby. We meet at 12 noon the second Wednesday of each month in the Fireside Room. We have interesting programs, Christian fellowship and enjoy a dessert provided by various members. Our main project is a Spring Flower Sale. The proceeds from this are donated to the local church's areas of need as well as community outreach projects. We welcome guests and new members who are interested in helping make a difference in the ministry with women and children.
Meade Shotwell Circle
Our Circle represents a wealth of wisdom and golden hearts providing devotions that enable us to share our hardships with prayer and rejoice in our triumphs with love and laughter. As was our namesake, Don Herron's grandmother, this Circle is committed to the purpose of caring and sharing God's love through service, social action, missions and contributions---We also enjoy food and sharing it together.
We contribute to society and each other with generous hearts and the sharing of talents and time. We love an opportunity to give service, offer encouraging words, support our church, offer spiritual inspiration. And what friendships both new and life-long are developed through the loving support of this group! There is no pressure, just fun with the joy of friendship. Need a laugh, call your Meade Shotwell friend ---- Have a need , let your Meade Shotwell friends know. Need prayer or support? What else but to tell your Meade Shotwell friends. We cherish our time with each other.
Meade Shotwell is an evening circle, meeting the 2nd Monday of each month either in a member's home or at church.
Faith-Susannah Wesley Circle
Faith -Susannah Wesley Circle meets at 9:30 on the second Wednesday of each month in members’ homes or at the church. Each month we have programs, fellowship, and fun. Twice a year we have a bake sale in Herren Hall and this provides resources for our projects such as Nathaniel Mission, Wesley Foundation, Adopt A Family, Military Missions, and all church related projects. We adopt a patient at Eastern State Hospital and provide a meal for the students at Wesley Foundation. We welcome all ladies of the church to join us and be part of this Christ Centered fellowship of women. Contact Jo Neuzel (272.3732) or Carol Johnson (231.7195)
Patricia Herren Circle
The Pat Herren Circle meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:30a.m. in the Fireside Room or at member's homes. We are a group of caring ladies who enjoy working together on many church and UMW projects such as putting in place and decorating the Chrismon Trees in the sanctuary for the Advent Season. At our December meeting we bring cookies and deliver them to shut-ins. Some of our other activities include support to Adopt-A-Family, the Hope Center, Nathanial Mission, and the Methodist Home. We help in the serving of meals after funerals. After one of our meetings each quarter, we go to lunch together to celebrate birthdays. We invite you to join us for interesting programs, friendly interaction and spiritual growth. The circle is named in honor of Pat Herren, wife of Dr. Donald R. Herren.
YUM Circle
The YUM (Young United Methodists) Circle is the newest circle at Southern Hills. We are still in the developmental stages. The YUM Circle meets the fourth Sunday of the month at 3:30 in the Courtyard Room. We use this time to have Christian Fellowship and fun. We will devote our time to the Children's Ministry throughout the community. There is always childcare provided for all of our meetings. We encourage all interested women to join us in forming this exciting new circle.
New Life Circle
The New Life Circle meets the second Thursday evening of the month at 5:30p.m. in the Fireside Room. We have an informal structure and our main focus each month is to visit our "Hug Buddies", church members who are in nursing homes, are shut-in at home and those who are hospitalized. We also provide, throughout the year, Celebration Receptions following the transition ceremonies at the Hope Center Recovery Program for Women. We participate in all UMW projects and contribute yearly to the Lexington Women's Clothe a Child Program. We invite you to join us in our visitation and reach out to those who are in need. This Circle grew out of a renewal and rededication to Circle friendships and activities- therefore, the name "New Life Circle".
